“The Spirit of the Dream”

2007 Juried Dream Art Exhibition

 University Library Art Gallery

Sonoma State University

June 15 - July 27, 2007

Margot Forman c2007 “The Spirit of the Dream” features the work of thirty-six artists from Northern California and all over the United States and Canada who create art inspired by dreams.  The works chosen represent a wide range of approaches to art-making and to dreams, and include paintings, drawing, collage, photography, sculptural objects, and artist books.  Works range from representational to abstract, and may be based on a specific dream, or a series of dreams, or a more complex interaction of dreaming and waking source material.

This exhibition is being presented in conjunction with the 24th annual conference of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), held at Sonoma State University June 29 – July 3, 2007.

The Art Reception and the Nancy Richter Brzeski Dream Art Awards were presented Monday, July 2, 4 – 5 p.m., at the University Library Art Gallery, Sonoma State University.  Original music at the reception was provided by Anton Cehlinder.

Exhibit Curator: Richard Russo, Chair, IASD Arts Committee, with the assistance of an advisory jury of local artists (Catherine Campaigne, Betsy Davids, and Diane Rusnak).
